1. Introduction
Welcome to Book01 (the "Service"), operated by fruitful.link ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our AI-powered book inventory management platform.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Service Description
Book01 is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that:
- Transforms book cover images into e-commerce-ready metadata using AI
- Extracts book information (title, author, language, visible text) from uploaded images
- Enriches book data with summaries, identifiers (ISBN), and categories
- Generates CSV exports for Shopify and WooCommerce e-commerce platforms
- Manages your book inventory and credit balance
2.1 Service Scope
The Service is designed for:
- Used bookstores and second-hand book retailers
- Individual book sellers
- Libraries and book collection managers
- Any legitimate book inventory management needs
3. User Eligibility and Account Requirements
3.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
3.2 Account Registration
To use the Service, you must:
- Provide a valid email address
- Create a secure password
- Agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date account information
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
4. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Content
4.1 Prohibited Uses
You may NOT use the Service to:
- Upload, process, or distribute pornographic content
- Upload content containing profanities, hate speech, or abusive material
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
- Distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Attempt to circumvent security measures or access restrictions
- Scrape, mine, or harvest data from the Service without authorization
- Use the Service for fraudulent purposes
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
4.2 Content Moderation
We reserve the right to:
- Review uploaded content for compliance with these Terms
- Remove content that violates these Terms without notice
- Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms
4.3 Intellectual Property Rights
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to upload book cover images
- Your use of the Service does not infringe on third-party rights
- You have authority to photograph and upload book covers for inventory management purposes
5. User Content and Data Ownership
5.1 Your Content
You retain full ownership of:
- Book cover images you upload
- Metadata extracted and enriched by the Service
- CSV exports and downloaded data
5.2 License to Use Your Content
By uploading content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to:
- Process your book cover images using AI services
- Store your data temporarily (subject to our 30-day retention policy)
- Generate enriched metadata and CSV exports
- Display your content within your account
This license terminates when you delete your content or account, subject to retention periods outlined in Section 11.
5.3 Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, algorithms, and branding, is owned by fruitful.link and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute our software
- Reverse engineer or decompile the Service
- Use our trademarks or branding without permission
6. Credits and Payment Terms
6.1 Credit System
The Service operates on a credit-based system:
- Credits are purchased in advance via Stripe payment processing
- Credits are deducted only after successful book processing
- Credit balance is displayed in your account dashboard
- Credits have no expiration date and remain valid indefinitely
6.2 Credit Usage
- AI processing: Credits are deducted per book successfully processed
- Book enrichment: Credits are deducted for metadata enrichment via Google Books API
- Failed processing: No credits are deducted if processing fails
- Deferred charging: Credits are deducted only after successful completion
6.3 Pricing
Current credit pricing is available on our Pricing page. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing users.
6.4 Payment Processing
- Payments are processed securely through Stripe
- We do not store your payment card information
- All transactions are in your local currency or USD
- Receipts are sent via email after each purchase
6.5 Refund Policy
Refunds are provided in the following cases:
- Processing errors: If the AI fails to process your book due to technical issues
- Technical failures: If the Service is unavailable and prevents processing
- Duplicate charges: If you are charged twice for the same transaction
- Service defects: If the Service does not perform as described
Refund process:
- Email paal.book01@gmail.com with your transaction details
- Refunds are processed within 14 business days
- Credits are refunded to your original payment method
No refunds for:
- Successfully processed books (even if results are unsatisfactory)
- User error (e.g., uploading wrong images)
- Change of mind after processing
- Unused credits (credits do not expire)
7. Service Availability and Limitations
7.1 Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable Service availability, but we do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted access to the Service
- Error-free operation
- Specific processing speeds or accuracy rates
- Compatibility with all devices or browsers
7.2 Service Limitations
The Service may experience:
- Scheduled maintenance (with advance notice when possible)
- Temporary outages due to technical issues
- Rate limiting to prevent abuse
- Processing delays during high-traffic periods
7.3 AI Limitations
AI processing results may vary in accuracy. We do not guarantee:
- 100% accuracy of extracted metadata
- Complete book information for all titles
- Recognition of all book covers or languages
- Availability of enrichment data from external APIs
You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated data before use.
8. Account Termination
8.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Navigating to Dashboard → Settings → Account and selecting "Delete Account"
- Emailing us at paal.book01@gmail.com
Effect of termination:
- Your account and profile information will be permanently deleted
- All book and batch data will be immediately deleted (subject to Section 11)
- Unused credits will be forfeited (no refunds for voluntary account deletion)
- Transaction records will be retained for 1 year for accounting purposes
8.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:
- You violate these Terms (especially prohibited content rules)
- You engage in fraudulent activity
- You abuse the Service or harm other users
- Required by law or legal process
- The Service is discontinued
Effect of termination:
- Access to the Service will be revoked
- Unused credits will be forfeited (no refund for Terms violations)
- You may not create a new account without our permission
8.3 Survival
The following sections survive account termination:
- Section 9 (Limitation of Liability)
- Section 10 (Disclaimers and Warranties)
- Section 12 (Dispute Resolution)
- Section 13 (Governing Law)
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 Disclaimer
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
9.2 Limitation
WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages - Lost profits, lost data, business interruption
- AI processing errors or inaccuracies - Incorrect metadata, failed recognition
- Third-party service failures - Google Gemini, Google Books API, Stripe, AWS, Vercel
- Data loss - Due to 30-day retention policy or technical issues
- Service interruptions - Downtime, maintenance, outages
9.3 Maximum Liability
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed:
- The amount of credits in your account at the time of the claim, OR
- €100 (one hundred euros), whichever is greater
9.4 Exceptions
These limitations do not apply to:
- Liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability that cannot be excluded by law
10. Disclaimers and Warranties
10.1 No Warranty
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
- AI processing will be accurate or error-free
- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or secure
- Defects will be corrected
10.2 Third-Party Services
We rely on third-party services (Google Gemini, Google Books API, Stripe, AWS, Supabase, Vercel). We are not responsible for:
- Third-party service outages or errors
- Changes to third-party APIs or pricing
- Third-party data processing or privacy practices
10.3 User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Verifying the accuracy of AI-generated metadata
- Ensuring compliance with e-commerce platform requirements
- Backing up your data before the 30-day deletion period
- Complying with copyright and intellectual property laws
11. 30-Day Data Retention Policy
11.1 Scope
To minimize data storage, enhance privacy, and reduce costs, all uploaded books and batch data are automatically deleted 30 days after creation.
This policy applies to:
- Book cover images - Original uploaded images
- Extracted metadata - Title, author, language, visible text
- Enriched metadata - Summaries, identifiers, categories
- Batch processing records - Upload history and processing status
11.2 What Is NOT Deleted
The following data is NOT subject to the 30-day deletion policy:
- User accounts - Your account remains active indefinitely
- Transaction history - Retained for 1 year for accounting purposes
- Credit balance - Credits remain valid indefinitely
- Exported CSV files - Once downloaded, CSV files are yours to keep
- Email communications - Retained for 1 year
11.3 Automatic Deletion Process
- Deletion is fully automatic via
expires_attimestamp in our database - You will NOT receive notifications before deletion (future enhancement planned)
- Once deleted, data CANNOT be recovered
- No manual action is required from you
11.4 Export Your Data
To retain your book data permanently:
- Navigate to Dashboard → Batches
- Select the batch you want to export
- Click Export to CSV (Shopify or WooCommerce format)
- Save the CSV file to your local device or cloud storage
We strongly recommend exporting your data within 25 days to allow time for review and corrections.
11.5 Rationale
The 30-day retention policy serves multiple purposes:
- Data minimization - GDPR principle of storing only necessary data
- Privacy protection - Reduces exposure in case of data breach
- Cost optimization - Reduces storage and hosting costs
- Compliance - Aligns with privacy-by-design principles
11.6 Exceptions
Data may be retained beyond 30 days if:
- Legal hold - Court order or legal investigation requires retention
- Dispute resolution - Active dispute or refund request is pending
- Technical issues - System errors prevent automatic deletion (rare)
In these cases, we will notify you and explain the reason for extended retention.
11.7 User Acknowledgment
By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:
- All book and batch data will be automatically deleted after 30 days
- You are responsible for exporting data before deletion
- We are not liable for data loss due to the 30-day policy
- Exported CSV files are your sole permanent record
12. Dispute Resolution
12.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating formal proceedings, please contact us at paal.book01@gmail.com to resolve disputes informally.
12.2 Arbitration (Optional)
If informal resolution fails, we encourage arbitration:
- Disputes may be submitted to binding arbitration under Norwegian law
- Arbitration is conducted in Oslo, Norway
- Each party bears its own costs unless otherwise decided by the arbitrator
12.3 Small Claims Court
You may bring claims in small claims court in your jurisdiction if the claim qualifies.
12.4 Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis. You waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 Jurisdiction
For disputes that proceed to court, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Oslo, Norway.
13.3 EU/EEA Users
Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer under EU consumer protection law or the laws of your country of residence.
14. Changes to These Terms
14.1 Notification
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our Service or legal requirements. We will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
- Notify you via email of material changes at least 30 days in advance
- Provide a summary of significant changes
14.2 Acceptance
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14.3 Rejection
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must:
- Stop using the Service
- Close your account before the changes take effect
- You may be entitled to a pro-rata refund of unused credits (contact us)
15. Miscellaneous
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and fruitful.link regarding the Service.
15.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
15.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
15.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
15.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, third-party service outages).
